Sweezy and the Discopunk is a punk-fusion band based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Formed by (lead bassist and vocalist) Jayzweezy and The Discopunk (drummer and lead guitarist) in August of 2022, they are looking to bring a fresh new sound to the world, combining elements of punk rock with numerous other genres. After falling in love with the bass guitar during the pandemic, Jay decided he wanted to pursue a rock-influenced sound. Doing a deep dive into the discography of some of his childhood favorite bands such as, Green Day, Nirvana, Cream, Cage The Elephant and The Police. made him very aware of the punk-fusion sound he wanted to create. The Discopunk has a similar story as well. Although he played the drums for most of his life, he got inspired to pick up the guitar after listening to, Jimi Hendrix Arctic Monkeys and other guitar heavy groups. After connecting through a mutual friend at The Discopunk’s former music school, Jaysweezy and the Discopunk started jamming together and creating music. Sweezy and the Discopunk is the brainchild of that newly formed friendship.

They are taking a grassroot approach to the music industry. Meaning they are looking to build their name organically. Whether that includes being involved in their community, putting on local and provincial shows, to doing college radio interviews. They believe that the progress in the music industry is better than being thrown into it.
